The underground power plant is equipped with the largest reverse water turbines in Europe with an installed capacity of 2 x 325 MW and a nominal head of 510.7 m – the largest in the Czech Republic. The genset can be operate in turbine, pump or compensation operation.
The hydraulic circuit of each genset consists of an underground high-pressure penstock opening into a common inflow structure of the upper reservoir and an underground low-pressure waste tunnel opening into a common structure of the lower reservoir which also houses functional equipment of the lower reservoir. The lower reservoir on the Divoká Desná river and the upper reservoir on the top of Dlouhé stráně have an operating volume of approx. 2.58 million m3 each.
