Project description:
The project provided measures close to nature taken at the confluence area of the Dyje and Morava rivers. Restoring the natural character of the Dyje river by reconnecting the incised branches D9 and D18 in combination with creating new wetlands in the areas in the lobe of the D9 meander. Branch D8 was connected to the active inflow of the Dyje river from the downstream side. The project addressed the challenge of diverting the flow into the reconnected branches while simultaneously maintaining the flow in the straightened part of the water course, which forms the state border. This was achieved thanks to special flow dividing structures. Reconnecting the incised branches of the Dyje river back into the river system provides the river revitalization in its purest form.
