Investor:   STAREZ – SPORT, a.s.
Project partners: Vodohospodářský rozvoj a výstavba a.s.
Watercourse: Svratka in the river km 40,786– 41,730

Description of flood protection:
The study was developed for a water sports canal to be constructed in Brno - Pisárky in the area of the former premises of the Brno water treatment plant. This locality is the most suitable site in Brno for such a canal. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the Svratka, and the canal can be supplemented with water under  favourable conditions, and it located downstream the Kamenný mlýn dam, which provides a sufficient gradient of up to 4.5 m.
The area is designed as multi-purpose to be mainly used for water slalom training and competitions including the possibility of organizing top international competitions. This corresponds to the designed parameters, which were defined in cooperation with Professor Pollert from the Czech Technical University in Prague. This water area with fast-flowing water and rapids can also be used as a training site for water rescuers and fire protection and rescue services for interventions during floods. The project also includes revitalization of the former water treatment plant site.
