Gabčíkovo lock chambers - determination of hydrodynamic load on steel gates

As part of the large-scale project of "Refurbishment and modernization of lock chambers to increase the safety and intensity of navigation in the Gabčíkovo water reservoir", simulations of the overflow flow through the lock upper head gates were carried out with the aim of determining the pressure load represented by hydrodynamic flows for a subsequent detailed design of steel structures. The flow was simulated with gradual opening for important level. In total, approximately 50 load cases were calculated and evaluated for the two upper lock head gates.
