Study of water quality improvement in the Vranov hydraulic structure

The study addressed water quality problems in the Vranov multi-purpose reservoir in a comprehensive manner. 
An extensive monitoring campaign was used to conduct a detailed analysis of the current state of the reservoir itself and measures were then proposed to restrict cyanobacteria growth.
The study included a detailed analysis of the catchment area with identification of individual sources of pollution. Using a model, their impact on the reservoir itself was then assessed. Furthermore, a broad set of measures was proposed with the aim of improving the state of water not only in the reservoir but also in the entire Vranov hydraulic structure catchment. The impact of the proposed measures on the reservoir was assessed and priorities for finding solutions were determined including cost effectiveness.
The study included additional analyzes, for example, evaluation of the impact of pilot corrective measures, old environmental pollution and other impacts on the Vranov hydraulic structure.
